Amanda Summers is originally from Baltimore, Maryland where she trained and competed at the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts. She was a consistent Youth America Grand Prix Solo Finalist and was also named a Maryland Distinguished Scholar Finalist in the Arts upon high school graduation. She went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a BFA from Point Park University’s Conservatory Dance Program. While at Point Park, Amanda had the pleasure of performing in Kiesha Lalama’s The Bench as the lead female, as well as works by Christopher Huggins, George Balanchine, Marius Petipa, Gerald Arpino, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Val Caniparoli, Garfield Lemonius, Patrick Frantz, Nicolas Petrov, and Peter Merz. She has attended programs at Boston Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Ramblewood Contemporary Dance Intensive, American College Dance Festival, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago twice. Professionally, she has danced for Royal Caribbean International, as well as Texture Contemporary Ballet in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she performed works by artistic director Alan Obuzor, Kelsey Bartman, and Gabriel Gaffney Smith. With Texture, Amanda was given the opportunity to perform at the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Festival in 2014. She currently dances with a few companies throughout Manhattan including NSquared Dance Company, Shelly Hutchinson Collaborative, Neville Dance Theatre, and Billy Blanken/SMDT. Amanda is super excited to be a part of the Beyond Dance Faculty!
